DIY Blacktail Deer Hunting in Southeast Alaska
Self-Guided Sitka Blacktail Deer Hunts
We are a locally owned and operated business based out of Sitka, Alaska that offers some of the best blacktail hunting in the world. Sitka is located in southeast Alaska which is part of the Tongass National Forest at 16.7 million acres. There is an amazing deer population at our location which can be harvested from August 1st until December 31st. We recommend hunting the rut from mid-October through mid-December. There are custom hunts available with other dates for those that would like to hunt alpine.
Please understand that this is a NON-GUIDED hunt as we only offer a TRANSPORT service. We cannot legally help assist on your deer hunt or supply you with any gear on the boat. Your success relies based on your skills. We offer transport to and from the beach at anytime you wish with our skiff to the M/V Desperado.
Hunt Includes:
67 foot Desperado a steel motor yacht equipped with lodging and transportation to and from hunting areas. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner plus non-alcoholic beverages. Captain Brandon licensed uscg captain Sitka local born and raised, plus a Local Deckhand/Chef.Crab and Shrimp pots are offered if you desire (Fishing license required prior to departure). Shrimp requires a free ADFG permit which is easily accessible online and call with any questions. Waterfowl hunting, whether it is puddle ducks or sea ducks, is available for another opportunity. We can offer assistance in waterfowl hunting at no additional cost.

Hunting license (Fishing if you would like to crab and shrimp) we recommend purchasing in advance. You need your license and locking tags prior to departure of the harbor. Purchase online HERE.
Alcoholic Beverages (We do offer a vehicle and will provide a service at no charge to bring you to the liquor store prior to departure)
Airline ticket to and from Sitka via Alaska Airlines

Hunts are going to depart midday on Sundays and return Friday (5 nights on board) for $25,000/week for up to 4 people.
This is a NON-GUIDED hunt and a DIY TRANSPORTED hunt so please do your research and call with any questions. We recommend studying OnX Hunt(a hunting app) with several options in mind. Sometimes Alaska weather does not allow us to access all locations.
Non-Resident License Cost As Of 2024
7 day Hunting/Fishing - $230
Deer Kill Tag - $300each (3 tags maximum, we recommend 2 to target quality bucks)
State Waterfowl stamp - $10
Black Bear Tag - $450 (please call before purchasing this hunt is not
available in all the areas we hunt)
